What is Form Director?

Form Director is a Google Workspace add-on that directs data submitted from Google Forms to applications like Google Docs, Forms, Sheets, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Email, Trello, Slack, QuickBooks etc.


It is available in the Google workspace Marketplace.

Please check installation instructions to install the add-on.

What is Google Slides?

Google Slides is a presentation editor in the Google Docs and Drive productivity suite.

Google Slides are presented in a linear fashion, where slides appear in order. It affords real time collaboration between editors as well as different options for sharing the presentations.

Service: Publish Slide

Publish Slide creates a new Slide by filling value from your form to your templated slide.

Choosing App and Service

  • Select Google Slide from the list of applications.

  • Select Publish Slide under Service.

Setting up Publish Slide Service

  • Choose the templated slide that you want to fill in with Form data.

  • You should have templated fields in the selected slide in ${field} format.

  • Form director automatically identifies the templated fields that are in your slide and make it ready to map with form fields.

  • You can get the newly added fields by clicking on the refresh button.

  • Choose or create a destination folder by clicking on the choose or create button.

  • You can define the name of the new file to be generated by typing in Genrated File Name


  • Switch on use folder from previous service results if you want to use previously created folder as destination folder from service result on Google Slide


  • Switch on Share Generated Files if the generated files need to be shared.

  • Add the Recipient Email by clicking the "+" icon.

  • Add email from Form Fields also by clicking the "+" icon.

  • Add email from System fields also.

NOTE : You are publishing your form data in a copy of your template slide, not in your original slide.


Setup Mapping

  • Mapping of form fields to that of Slide fields is to be done in order to publish your new Slide with your form data


  • Click on the add icon to add new mapping


  • Once you have done mapping you can save the service


  • Note : Mapping should be done between app field and form field of same type.

You can embed image file into Google Slides from File upload option in form field.

  • Check Insert as Image checkbox if image needs to be uploaded.

  • Select Fit Content or Custom Size whatever required.

  • If Custom Size is selected, enter the required Height and Width required.

Email Template

Send your own customized emails on form submission to your audience.

Attachment

  • Click Choose Form Attachments to attach to email.

  • Click Pick Drive Files to attach files to Email.


  • Generate and attach the published file in whatever format you required.


  • The file generated can be converted to the required format by clicking the check boxes as required.

Finish Setting up

  • Save service

You are all set to publish slide on your Google Form submission.

  • Submit Google Form

Your published slide will be saved in Google Drive.

Service: Append Slide

Append Slide adds your generated Slide to an already Slide.

  • Provide a name to your service

  • Choose Google Slide from the list of apps.

  • Choose Append Slide from the list of services.

  • Choose the templated slide that you want to fill in with Form data.

  • You should have templated fields in the selected slide in ${field} format.

  • Form director automatically identifies the templated fields that are in your slide and make it ready to map with form fields.

  • Choose the Slide to append your templated Slide.

  • Choose or create a destination folder by clicking on the choose or create button.
